Key Facts About the Program
• The Cardiac Rehab Program is a medically supervised, multi-disciplinary program staffed by a   group of dedicated professionals.
• The program meets Monday – Wednesday – Friday at the Elkin Recreation Center Gymnasium from    7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
• Each Wednesday, a 15-20 minute educational class follows the exercise session.
• We invite and encourage family members to attend educational classes.

Q.  How can the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program help me after I’ve experienced coronary artery disease?
A.   The Program can help you maintain a healthier heart and reduce your risks of coronary artery disease through a program of exercise and information.

Q.  If I want to participate in this program, what should I do?
A.   Talk with your doctor about the program.

Q.  Will the program be covered by insurance?
A.   That is likely. For insurance purposes, you will need a doctor’s referral.

Q.  What will I experience in the exercise classes?
A.   • The Cardiac Rehab staff will obtain your blood pressure and resting heart rate prior to starting            each exercise session.
        • The Exercise Physiologist will then lead the group through warm up exercises.
        • You will exercise for 30 to 45 minutes by walking or using stationary Airdyne Bikes or NuStep           recumbent steppers at a pace comfortable for you.
        • During this time, the staff will check your heart rhythm.
        • At the end of the class, the Exercise Physiologist will lead the class through cool-down           exercises.
Q.  When I complete the classes, are there any other steps I can take?
A.   We also offer a program for patients who would like to continue with exercise after they complete         the initial program.
