Q.  What do hospital pharmacists do?
A.   Hospital pharmacists are responsible for the safe and effective use of medications within the hospital. Pharmacists must review all medication orders to prevent possible drug and food interactions, prevent possible contraindications (including allergies), and insure that the medication and dosage are appropriate for the patient. Physicians frequently consult pharmacists to provide medication and dosage recommendations.

Q.  Can I get my prescription filled at the hospital pharmacy?
A.   • The following people may have their prescriptions filled:
         • Employees and their immediate families
         • Retirees
         • Active members of the medical and dental staff
         • Auxiliary employees
         • Employees covered under the group health plan who have become disabled
